Richard Beavers, a native of Brooklyn, NY, is not only the Founder of Richard Beavers Gallery -
he is a visionary with a mission to elevate Contemporary African-American art to new heights.
His journey began in 2007, driven by his deep admiration for art that reflects the reality of
people of color Richard opened his flagship location in Bedstuy, Brooklyn. Embracing growth
and furthering its mission, a second space was launched in the vibrant art district of Soho on
September 9, 2022.
Through his gallery, Richard has not only provided a platform for emerging talents but also
nurtured a sense of community and cultural diversity. His dedication goes beyond the gallery
walls, as he works tirelessly to empower the next generation through art programs in schools.
Richards commitment to showcasing diverse voices is evident in his collaborations with artists
like Bisa Butler and Genesis Tremaine, propelling their careers globally. His passion for creating a space for black women artists highlights his vision for inclusivity and
representation in the art world.
As a loving husband, father, son, and community activist, Richard understands the importance
of unity and support in achieving success. His ultimate goal? To continue championing
